Privacy Policy
This document describes how Slovgen s.r.o. with registered office at Ilkovičova 8, 841 04 Bratislava, Slovak Republic and Company ID 35700629 (hereinafter referred to as the „Laboratory“) processes and protects the personal data of its clients and other data subjects. The protection of your privacy is extremely important to us.
This policy is in compliance with applicable legislation, especially with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of natural persons regarding the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (GDPR) and with Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on the Protection of Personal Data and on Amendments to Certain Acts.

- Scope and Purposes of Personal Data Processing
- a) Purposes of Processing
The Laboratory processes personal data exclusively for the following purposes:
- Provision of DNA analysis services: Collection and analysis of samples, preparation, and delivery of results.
- Contractual relationships and invoicing: Keeping records of orders, managing customer accounts, invoicing, and payment administration.
- Communication with clients: Answering questions, providing technical support, and informing them about the status of orders.
- Statistical and research purposes: Anonymized data processing to improve methodologies and for scientific research, provided the client has given consent.
- b) Categories of Processed Data
We process the following categories of personal data that you provide to us:
- Identification data: name and surname of the breeder/veterinarian.
- Contact data: address, email address, phone number.
- Animal data: animal’s name, breed, chip/ring number, pedigree, and gender.
- Sample and test data: type of sample (e.g., feather, blood, saliva), date of collection, and analysis results (e.g., DNA profile, genetic disease results).
- Transactional data: data related to payments and orders.
- Legal Basis for Processing
The processing of your personal data is based on the following legal grounds:
- Performance of a contract: Processing is necessary for the provision of the ordered services (analysis) and related communication and invoicing (GDPR, Article 6(1)(b)).
- Consent of the data subject: In cases where we process your data for marketing or anonymized statistical purposes, you give us your explicit consent (GDPR, Article 6(1)(a)).
- Legitimate interest: Processing for the purposes of direct marketing or fraud prevention (GDPR, Article 6(1)(f)).
- Compliance with a legal obligation: In cases where we are required to do so by law (e.g., tax and accounting regulations) (GDPR, Article 6(1)(c)).
- Recipients and Data Transfer
We do not provide your personal data and test results to third parties except when it is necessary to provide the service ordered. This may include the transfer of samples to partner laboratories for specific analysis that we cannot perform internally. In such cases, we ensure that partner laboratories adhere to the same data protection standards.
Files with animal genetic profiles are stored in our database for record-keeping and for potential future parentage verification. This data is linked to the identification data of the breeder and the animal.
- Data Retention Period
We retain your personal data only for the period necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected.
- Data for contractual and invoicing purposes: We retain this data for 10 years from the last transaction, in accordance with applicable tax and accounting regulations.
- Animal genetic profiles: This data is retained indefinitely to allow for parentage or identity verification of the animal at any time upon the client’s request. If you do not wish for it to be retained, you can request its deletion.
- Your Rights
As a data subject, you have the right to:
- Request access to your data: You have the right to know what personal data we process about you.
- Request data correction: If your data is inaccurate or incomplete, you can request update.
- Request data erasure (right to be forgotten): You have the right to have your personal data erased, provided it is possible in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Request processing restriction: You can request a restriction on the processing of your data.
- Object to processing: You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data if it is based on our legitimate interest.
- Data portability: You can request the transfer of your data to another controller.
- Withdraw consent: If processing is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw it at any time.
- File a complaint: If you believe your rights have been violated, you can file a complaint with the Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic.
- Data Security
The Laboratory takes appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, misuse, loss, or destruction. Our systems are protected, and access to data is restricted to authorized employees who are bound by confidentiality agreements.

By submitting an order or providing data in any other way, you acknowledge and agree to the processing of your personal data in accordance with this policy.
